To ensure the final heirloom piece is cohesive and refined, we recommend thoughtful coordination in clothing and preparation.

Clothing Guidelines

  • Choose subtle, coordinated outfits that complement each other without anyone standing out too boldly. Solid colors or soft textures work best against our classic Old Masters backdrop.

  • Timeless formal or semi-formal attire photographs most beautifully: darker tones (navy, charcoal, black, deep burgundy) for a slimming, sophisticated effect, and rich jewel tones (emerald, sapphire, ruby) for added warmth and depth.

  • Avoid bright whites, bold patterns, logos, or neon colors, as they can distract from faces and may not translate well in the classical painting style.

  • Long sleeves and longer lengths (dresses, pants) generally create the most elegant, flowing lines. For children, select comfortable yet polished clothing in the same color family as the adults.

For Families & Couples Coordinate across the group—think complementary tones rather than identical matching outfits—for a harmonious, natural look that highlights connection. Jewel tones work best.

For Pets Well-groomed pets photograph beautifully. Brush coats thoroughly, trim nails if needed, and bring a favorite treat or toy to help them relax. Neutral collars or subtle accessories are fine; avoid bright bandanas or clothing that clashes with the group.

Hair & Makeup

  • Keep makeup natural and matte to enhance features without overpowering the classical style. Focus on the eyes with mascara and subtle liner; bring your makeup for touch-ups.

  • Hair should be freshly styled and neat—simple, timeless styles complement the Old Masters aesthetic best.

  • For everyone: freshly shaved or groomed facial hair photographs cleanly in our painted finish.
